John Richardson

john webFounder member of the Rubettes on Drums and Vocals having recently returned to the Rubettes in 2000 after some considerable time away. A very popular figure who is well remembered and has no doubt brought back new dimensions to an already familiar but well respected line-up. John's dynamic drumming thrills audiences with it's style and unpredictability. His powerful voice, characteristic humour, and sensitive charm make him unique.

As an Essex boy born in South Ockendon he taught himself drums when he was 16 and after playing in a succession of pub groups for several years and touring around the country he met up with Alan Williams and his career somewhat paralleled Alans, playing with him in the Medium during the 60's and being the other half of Baskin & Copperfield in the early 70's. By the time he was 25 he started to achieve success on the recording session scene playing on many top ten international hits such as Kung Fu Fighting (Carl Douglas), Dancing On A Saturday Night (Barry Blue), Born With A Smile On My Face (Stephanie De Sykes) and of course Sugar Baby Love. After forming the Rubettes John proved to be one of the driving forces writing many of their Hits and becoming famed for his antics, in France he was John Berlin2006affectionally known as 'le clown'.

In 1983 John left the Rubettes and the pop world to concentrate on a career in alternative medicine, studying massage, reflexology, herbal medicine, Lypro Therapy and in recent years music and Mantra Therapy. He has many popular New Age recordings to his credit as a solo artist.
